NieR: Automata's opening introduces 2B's initial mission. After deploying and engaging in melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a two-handed sword. The latter, the Virtuous Treaty, is a powerful weapon temporarily lost after the prologue. However, it's easily reacquired once free-roaming is unlocked in the subsequent chapter.

Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata
This early-game weapon is located near your starting point after exiting the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower level. To your left, you'll spot a highway above the nearest access point. Proceed towards the highway, utilizing the ruins to climb onto the road. This path leads back towards the factory.
Descend into the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. On the left, you'll find another access point and stairs leading upwards. From this higher area, locate the destroyed bridge where you encountered the Goliath-class enemy. The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the bridge's edge, ready to be retrieved.
Your discarded equipment from the prologue, including consumables, is also locatable just to the right of the sword.

Virtuous Treaty Stats in NieR: Automata
- Attack: 300-330
- Combo: Light 2, Heavy 2
Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels in wide-sweeping attacks, dealing significant damage to multiple enemies. Its attack speed is slower, however. Upgrades can potentially make this one of the game's highest-damage weapons, provided you adapt to its slower pace. You can also incorporate it into combos with faster weapons by using a heavy attack during their sequences. While this prevents a full Virtuous Treaty combo, it allows for leveraging its high damage output within a faster attack flow.
