NieR 15th Anniversary Livestream
Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
Square Enix marked NieR's 15th Anniversary with a range of announcements, including upcoming events and projects. During the livestream on April 19, they introduced NieR's online Special Novel, [U]ndecided Option.
The online novel will be released in three parts, with the first part already accessible. The subsequent updates are scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel's synopsis teases, "Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided."
In conjunction with this announcement, Square Enix launched the NieR 15th Anniversary website, which serves as the hub for the online special novel and other upcoming projects and events related to the anniversary celebration.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork of the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Details on tickets and other information will be shared soon.
Further enriching the anniversary festivities, additional performances for the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 have been scheduled in Osaka on July 25 and 26, and in Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets for these events are available through a lottery system, with more information accessible on the concert's official website.
A variety of new merchandise has also been unveiled, including an album featuring newly recorded studio jazz arrangements from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set to release in December 2024. Additionally, the NieR Weapon Story book, which includes over 650 stories about weapons from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, and scale figures of the NieR series protagonists will be available.
Re[in]carnation Developer Blog
Starting April 28, NieR Re[in]carnation, the first mobile title in the NieR series, will launch a developer blog series. These monthly updates, planned for the remainder of the year, will provide insights into the development process behind Re[in]carnation.
Originally released in January 2021, the game was discontinued in April 2024 due to monetization issues. The sudden introduction of a developer blog for a closed game has left fans curious, sparking speculation about potential sequels or remakes, though no official announcements have been made yet.
The livestream concluded with an over 20-minute live performance featuring soundtracks from the NieR franchise. Square Enix promises more exciting events and merchandise announcements in the near future for NieR enthusiasts.
