Unlocking Multiple Pets in Stardew Valley
Initially, Stardew Valley limited players to a single pet. However, the 1.6 update changed this, allowing for multiple companions. To unlock this feature, you must maximize your existing pet's friendship level. Daily interactions are key: fill their water bowl (except on rainy/snowy days) and pet them (indicated by a heart). Monitor their friendship using the "Animals" tab in the pause menu. A full friendship meter triggers a letter from Marnie, opening up pet adoption. If you skipped the initial pet adoption, Marnie's letter arrives at the start of Year 2.
Adopting Multiple Pets in Stardew Valley

Obtaining Pet Supplies in Stardew Valley
Essential: Commission Pet Bowls from Robin (5,000g and 25 Hardwood each). These serve as your pets' homes, preventing friendship decay and abandonment.
Optional: Marnie sells decorative Doghouses and Cat Trees. These don't affect friendship.
