The Animal Festival in Fields of Mistria is an annual event, much like other seasonal town gatherings. If you miss it one year due to other in-game commitments or simply forget about it, don't worry—you can always catch it the following year. The festival kicks off on the 10th day of the Winter season. This gives you plenty of time to prepare by purchasing and caring for your animals, ensuring they're in tip-top shape for the big day.
How to Win the Animal Festival in Fields of Mistria

The main attraction of the Animal Festival is the contest where you can enter up to two of your farm-raised animals to compete for prizes. You can choose one small animal (such as chickens, ducks, or rabbits) and one large animal (like cows, alpacas, or sheep). Remember, only fully grown adults can participate.
How to Enter the Animal Festival Contest
To get started, head to the festival grounds in the center of town and speak with Josephine at the front counter. She'll guide you to the two booths behind her where you can enter your animals.
Josephine will share two key tips that can boost your score. First, the more hearts your chosen animal has, the higher your score will be. You can increase your animal's hearts by petting them, picking them up, feeding them well, and letting them enjoy sunny days outside.
Secondly, the rarity of your animal's coat color can also enhance your score. Animals with unique colors like pink or blue stand a better chance of scoring higher.

At the end of the judging, you'll receive a list of prizes based on your performance. If you're participating in your first year, winning first place might be challenging due to the time it takes to fully nurture your animals. It requires patience to fill their heart gauges completely and completing enough ranch-related quests and farm upgrades to unlock rare animals with unique coat styles.
