Microsoft Edge introduces Game Assist, a revolutionary in-game browser designed to enhance your PC gaming experience. This preview version streamlines gameplay by eliminating the need to alt-tab out of games to access web content.
The innovative "game-aware" tab provides a seamless overlay experience, accessible via the Game Bar. This eliminates the disruption of switching between game and browser, allowing gamers to access information, guides, and communication tools without interrupting their gameplay. Microsoft highlights that a significant portion of PC gamers utilize browsers during gameplay; Game Assist addresses this need directly.
This integrated browser offers full access to your existing Edge profile, including bookmarks, history, and saved logins. No need to re-login – your browsing experience remains consistent. The unique "game-aware" tab intelligently suggests relevant guides and tips for the game currently being played, based on Microsoft's research indicating a high percentage of players seeking in-game assistance. Users can even pin this tab for persistent access to real-time guides.
Currently in beta, support is limited to select titles including Baldur's Gate 3, Diablo IV, Fortnite, Hellblade II: Senua's Saga, League of Legends, Minecraft, Overwatch 2, Roblox, and Valorant. Microsoft plans to expand game compatibility over time.
To access Game Assist, download the Edge Beta or Preview version, set it as your default browser, and then install the Game Assist widget through the Edge settings. Experience gaming enhanced with seamless, integrated browsing.
