Navigating the "Cursed" Mission in Metro 2033: A Comprehensive Guide
Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, experiencing a resurgence with the VR release of Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the notoriously challenging "Cursed" mission, offering clear instructions to overcome its obstacles. This mission takes place in the Turgenevskaya station, where Artyom first encounters anomalies.
Locating the Bomb
After the railcar ride, follow Khan to the defenders at the barricaded escalators. They'll explain that a demolition team went missing while attempting to collapse a tunnel, preventing nosalis incursions. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Nosalises will attack relentlessly; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows; they inflict damage. Retrieve the bomb and either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if necessary.
Destroying the Tunnel
With the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will trigger, automatically planting and igniting the bomb. Escape immediately; the blast is lethal at close range. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb thrown into the same tunnel area will achieve the same result. Note: even with the tunnel destroyed, nosalises may still enter from other points.
Destroying the Airlock
A secondary objective involves destroying an airlock. Ascend the stairs on the right of the main platform to the torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises. Interact with the support columns to place a pipe bomb; escape immediately after lighting the fuse. With both entrances compromised, proceed with Khan to the shrine room and the next mission, "Armory." A video walkthrough is available (link omitted for brevity).
