Metaphor: ReFantazio has a chance to become a series - game director

Hashino, when discussing the studio's future plans, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

Regarding Metaphor: ReFantazio's future as a franchise, Hashino confirmed there are currently no concrete plans for a sequel. His priority is completing the current project. He revealed that the game was originally conceived as a third major JRPG series alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming for it to become a flagship title for the company.

While a direct sequel (Metaphor: ReFantazio 2) is unlikely, Hashino mentioned the team is already working on their next project. However, an anime adaptation is under consideration. Metaphor: ReFantazio is noteworthy for achieving Atlus' most successful platform launch to date.

The game's peak concurrent player count exceeded 85,961, significantly surpassing Persona 5 Royal (35,474 players) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002 players). Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
