Marvel's Wolverine: Updates on Hold
While Insomniac outlined their ambitious roadmap in a recent Variety interview, Co-Head Chad Dezern remained coy about Marvel's Wolverine. Although a new team is tackling exciting projects, Dezern stated they're focused on existing titles and aren't ready to reveal any information on upcoming releases, including confirming or denying a 2025 release date for Wolverine. He simply stated, "As much as we have pent-up excitement, we've got to hold on to it."
Marvel's Wolverine: Unveiled in 2021
Initially announced during the PlayStation Showcase 2021 with a cinematic teaser, Marvel's Wolverine is slated for PlayStation 5.In a 2023 interview with Kinda Funny, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Creative Director Bryan Intihar confirmed Wolverine's existence within the same universe as Spider-Man, mentioning "they’re all in 1048." Despite both games' simultaneous 2021 announcements, and fan anticipation for crossovers, the only confirmed connection so far is a Wolverine-themed suit ("The Best There Is") for Miles Morales in Spider-Man 2.
A December 2023 ransomware attack briefly exposed some of Marvel's Wolverine's development assets and gameplay footage to the public.
Insomniac Games' Current Projects
As announced at New York Comic-Con 2025, Spider-Man 2 arrives on PC January 30, 2025. Insomniac has confirmed no further story DLC is planned for Spider-Man 2. The PC port, however, will include all post-PS5 release updates, such as new suits, New Game+, and more. It will be available in Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions, the latter offering exclusive suits for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
