Dive in to discover more about this feature and the thrilling events and updates planned for the game.
Marvel Rivals Upcoming Features and Events
Switch Shader Compilation Mode
NetEase is rolling out an innovative experimental feature in Marvel Rivals to enhance stability and reduce memory usage. Announced via a Twitter (X) post on April 30, the Switch Shader Compilation Mode is set to improve the gaming experience for players, particularly those with lower RAM or FPS concerns.
A detailed blog post on the Marvel Rivals website outlines the expectations from this feature. The developers have acknowledged player concerns regarding performance stutters and crashes due to high memory consumption during gameplay.
The blog explains, “To tackle memory overload, we're introducing an experimental feature in Season 2: the Switch Shader Compilation Mode. With the Season 2 update, players can activate this feature through the PC launcher.” This feature is particularly recommended for players with 16GB of RAM or less.
Upon activation, the game will see the following improvements:
- The shader compilation process will only occur upon first entering the game after a new game version or graphics driver update.
- Game memory usage will be significantly reduced, minimizing severe FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes due to memory shortages.
However, the developers have noted some potential issues with this feature. At the start of each match, some materials might render abnormally for a few frames before normalizing. Additionally, minor stutters may occur but should resolve quickly during the match.
