Marvel Rivals, the acclaimed hero shooter, is a smash hit on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, NetEase, the developer, has consistently stated it won't launch on the original Nintendo Switch due to performance limitations. But what about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2?
This question was put to Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas. The news is encouraging for Switch fans! Wu stated, "We're already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits. Whenever we can ensure great performance on the Switch 2, we're open to a release. The original Switch couldn't deliver the experience our gameplay demands. If the Switch 2 meets that requirement, we're definitely interested."
The Nintendo Switch 2 was officially revealed last month. While specifics are scarce, it promises enhanced power and a larger form factor. Intriguingly, it seems to incorporate mouse-like controls, potentially bridging the gap between console and PC shooter experiences, though the exact implementation remains unclear.
The Nintendo Switch 2 lacks a confirmed release date, but a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2nd. Marvel Rivals is currently available on other platforms and has received positive reception. Our 8/10 review praised the game, stating it "might closely follow established hero shooters, but it's well-positioned to become the genre's leading title." The Human Torch and The Thing are slated to join the roster on February 21st.
