NetEase Games has officially announced that players using keyboard and mouse adapters on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles while playing Marvel Rivals will face account bans. The company deems this practice a violation of their rules, citing the unfair advantage gained from the adapters' high control sensitivity and the retention of aiming assistance. Adapters such as the XIM, Cronus Zen, Titan Two, KeyMander, and Brook Sniper allow for the simulation of gamepad controls through mouse and keyboard, which significantly boosts performance in competitive modes, particularly when auto-targeting is enabled.
NetEase defines these adapters as devices or programs that emulate gamepad control using a keyboard and mouse, creating an imbalance in gameplay, especially in competitive settings. The company has developed specialized tools to detect adapter use with high accuracy, resulting in account blocks for violators.
In addition to adapter issues, players have noticed that higher frame rates (FPS) in Marvel Rivals correlate with higher ping times. While this increase might be subtle with lower ping rates, a jump from a typical 90 ms to 150 ms can significantly impact gameplay. This issue appears linked to frame rate, prompting gamers to seek a solution. Currently, the best approach is to await a patch and experiment to find the optimal FPS-to-ping ratio. Some players suggest capping FPS at around 90 to mitigate this issue, a recommendation that might seem unusual to fans of games like Counter-Strike 2 but is relevant for Marvel Rivals at present.
