The next season of Daredevil is rapidly approaching, with creators already planning future developments – possibly including a Defenders reunion.
In an extensive EW feature, Marvel Studios' head of streaming Brad Winderbaum confirmed they're actively exploring opportunities to reunite the street-level heroes - Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist - collectively known as The Defenders.
While nothing is officially confirmed, Winderbaum told EW: "Exploring that narrative landscape is genuinely thrilling... Naturally, our resources aren't limitless like comic books where anything imaginable can be drawn. We're managing actor availability, production timelines, and the enormous scale required to build a cinematic universe, particularly for television."
He continued: "Account for all those factors, this concept represents tremendously exciting creative potential that we're thoroughly investigating."
Daredevil: Born Again will directly continue the narrative established in Netflix's Daredevil series. Netflix previously housed its own Marvel universe through shows like Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. Winderbaum's remarks suggest Born Again might serve as a springboard to reintroduce these characters through Disney+, following Disney's creative vision. The new season already confirms Jon Bernthal's Punisher – another Netflix character transitioning to the MCU.
Fans will need to wait for Daredevil: Born Again's March 4 premiere before understanding how the series connects to the broader MCU landscape.
