In the midst of the usual whirlwind of news about tariffs and the pricing of the Nintendo Switch 2, let's take a delightful detour into something more whimsical: the recent Nintendo event in New York where IGN got to play the eagerly anticipated Mario Kart World. A standout revelation from the event? The new playable character, Moo Moo Meadows Cow, can indeed indulge in a variety of foods, including burgers and steak.
For those who might be scratching their heads, let's rewind a bit. Mario Kart World was recently unveiled, introducing the beloved Moo Moo Meadows Cow as a racer. The internet has erupted in joy, spawning a plethora of memes and fanart celebrating this once-background character's promotion to the main roster.
Yet, amidst the excitement, a peculiar concern emerged following the Nintendo Direct 2 trailer. In it, Mario is seen enjoying a burger, sparking curiosity among fans: would Cow, whose kind might be linked to beef production, partake in beef consumption? The community was eager for an answer.
Imagine if the cow gets a transformation costume.

At the Nintendo preview event, the mystery was resolved. Yoshi's diner locations, sprinkled throughout the game's courses, function as drive-thrus where racers can pick up take-out bags similar to item boxes. Inside these bags, players can find a diverse array of foods such as burgers, steak kebabs, pizza, and donuts. And yes, Cow can consume them all without hesitation.

During our hands-on session, we observed Cow munching on various items, including the much-discussed burger. While other racers undergo costume changes upon consuming these foods, Cow appears unaffected. This raises intriguing questions: Is Cow simply enjoying the taste of beef? Could there be a hidden power-up linked to her burger consumption that Nintendo has yet to unveil? Or are these perhaps veggie burgers and plant-based kebabs?
IGN reached out to Nintendo for clarification, but we're still awaiting a response. It's likely they're preoccupied with the New York event, and not dodging what some might call an eccentric query. In the meantime, don't miss our comprehensive preview of Mario Kart World, which includes a charming cameo by our new favorite racer, Cow.
