Switch 2 Super Mario Kart World Bundle
Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle
- $499.99 at Best Buy
Opting for the Switch 2 bundle that includes Mario Kart World can save you $30 compared to buying the console and game separately. Keep in mind, the bundle comes with a digital copy of the game, so you won't receive a physical cartridge or box. If owning a physical copy is important to you, it might be worth the extra $30 to preorder the standalone version.
Yes, the MSRP Is $79.99
When purchased on its own, Mario Kart World is priced at $79.99, which is $10 more than the standard price for AAA titles on PlayStation and Xbox this generation. While I'm not thrilled about the price increase between console generations, I understand that game development costs have soared. Hopefully, the scale and depth of Mario Kart World will justify the additional cost.
What Is Mario Kart World?
Mario Kart World is set to be the most expansive Mario Kart game ever released. Designed as a comprehensive open world, it takes inspiration from games like the Forza Horizon series. In Grand Prix mode, you can seamlessly transition from the end of one track to the start of another after completing a race.
The game's tracks are dynamically affected by weather conditions and time of day, influencing visibility and traction. You're not confined to the tracks; Nintendo says you can drive "virtually everywhere." Each race features 24 drivers, more than any previous Mario Kart game.
A new mode called Knockout Tour lets you race across the open world from one end to the other. You'll navigate through checkpoints with placement requirements; fall behind, and you're out of the race.
For a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode allows you to explore the world at your leisure. Team up with friends to cruise around and snap photos along the way.
More details about Mario Kart World will be unveiled during the Nintendo Direct on April 17. In the meantime, check out our hands-on preview for more insights.
