This storied franchise, developed and published by Konami and crafted by the visionary Yoshitaka Murayama, draws inspiration from the classic Chinese novel, Water Margin, known as Suikoden in its native Japanese. The series is renowned for its deep narratives woven with political intrigue, the mystical True Runes, and the gathering of the legendary 108 Stars of Destiny. With a total of 11 entries, including spin-offs, the last installment hit shelves in 2012. Now, instead of a direct sequel or a full-blown revival, fans are getting Suikoden STAR LEAP, a mobile game venture.

The narrative centers around the Rune of Change, one of the 27 True Runes pivotal to the world's creation. The protagonist, Hou, the village chief's son, celebrates his first successful hunt only to see his world turned upside down as disaster strikes his village. Driven by a newfound purpose, Hou embarks on a journey with Hisui, his emotionally reserved servant; Shirin, his justice-driven childhood friend; and Shapur, a former general now serving as a butler, to restore peace.
