David Koepp, the screenwriter behind the iconic 1993 film Jurassic Park and the upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth, has confirmed the inclusion of a previously unused sequence from Michael Crichton's original novel in the new movie. In an interview with Variety, Koepp shared that he revisited Crichton's novels to reconnect with the source material, as Jurassic World Rebirth does not have a novel to directly adapt from.
Koepp admitted to incorporating elements from the novels into the new screenplay, specifically highlighting a sequence from the first Jurassic Park novel that was always intended for the original movie but was ultimately omitted due to space constraints. He expressed excitement about finally being able to use this scene in Jurassic World Rebirth, stating, "There was a sequence from the first novel that we’d always wanted in the original movie, but didn’t have room for. We were like, ‘Hey, we get to use that now.’"
Although Koepp did not disclose the specific sequence, fans have begun to speculate on which scene it might be. This has led to various theories about what part of the novel might finally make its cinematic debut.
