Image Comics provides this synopsis: In Lost Fantasy, a hidden magical world exists beneath our own. A century ago, a natural disaster breached the barrier between realms, unleashing monsters. Since then, elite monster hunters, known as The Great Hunters, have collaborated with global leaders to protect our world. However, a recent massacre in Montana signals a significant shift, threatening both worlds. Rookie hunter Henry Blackheart must confront this new threat.
Pires shared his excitement with IGN, stating, "I'm thrilled to be back at Image with Lost Fantasy, a series blending my love for Western comics like East of West and Something is Killing the Children with the immersive world-building and action of the JRPGs I grew up with." He further explained the influences, citing Final Fantasy's Tetsuya Nomura's character designs as inspiration for the protagonist and acknowledging a subtle homage to Hironobu Sakaguchi's Lost Odyssey in the title.
