The game receives continuous updates with balancing adjustments and fresh combat elements, including new armaments and equipment. The February 2025 Servants of Freedom Warbond delivered an arsenal of new weaponry, tactical gear, cosmetic items, and more. The August 2024 Escalation of Freedom update dramatically increased gameplay tension through enhanced difficulty tiers, additional mission objectives, combat refinements, and new hostile units.

Omens of Tyranny Expansion

Surprise-revealed during The Game Awards 2024, this major expansion resurrects the Illuminate faction - absent from the series for nearly a century since the original Helldivers. These psychic enemies employ mind control to convert civilians into The Voteless, turning them against Super Earth's democratic principles. The update also introduces urban combat scenarios in besieged Super Earth colonies.

The expansion introduces the Fast Recon Vehicle (FRV), a new squad transport stratagem enabling coordinated battlefield traversal while allowing mounted weapon fire.

Progression System Updates

The March 2025 Borderline Justice Warbond permanently expanded the game's reward system. Differing from time-limited battle passes, Warbonds remain permanently accessible, allowing gradual reward acquisition through earned medals. This Wild West-themed update introduced:

• The R-6 Deadeye lever-action rifle
• LAS-58 Talon energy revolver
• TED-63 Dynamite explosives
• LIFT-860 Hover Pack mobility stratagem

New armor sets include the GS-17 Frontier Marshal medium armor and GS-66 Lawmaker heavy armor, both featuring the Gunslinger trait for enhanced weapon performance.
