Hearthstone's upcoming Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching January 21st, boasts a record-breaking 49 new cards. This expansion, the largest Mini-Set to date, introduces class and multi-class cards themed around StarCraft factions – Zerg (for Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock), Protoss (for Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue), and Terran (for Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior). A single neutral Legendary card, Grunty, completes the set.
Initially teased during the November 13th, 2024 Warcraft Direct, the Mini-Set bridges the gap between Hearthstone and Blizzard's StarCraft universe. The full set costs $20 (or 2500 gold), a $5 increase over previous Mini-Sets, reflecting its expanded size. Alternatively, players can purchase individual faction packs (Protoss, Terran, or Zerg) for $10 (or 1200 gold). An all-Golden version is also available for $80 (or 12,000 gold).
The design of the cards reflects their StarCraft origins. Zerg cards emphasize summoning Zerglings and leveraging Hydralisks for swarm-based damage. Protoss cards focus on mana manipulation, enabling the deployment of powerful units like the Carrier. Terran cards utilize the Starship mechanic from Hearthstone's The Great Dark Beyond expansion, introducing new Starship Pieces and strategies.
To celebrate the launch, Hearthstone will host two streamed events: StarCast (January 23rd, 10 AM PST) featuring StarCraft personalities TrumpSC and Day9, and HearthCraft (January 24th, 9 AM PST) showcasing Hearthstone community creators. Viewers can earn four packs (two standard, two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs) by watching these Twitch streams.
