A dedicated Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer, InfiniteNightZ, has uncovered intriguing evidence suggesting that the iconic fighting game could soon introduce Hara-Kiri Fatalities, possibly in the form of Quitalities. In a video shared on Reddit, InfiniteNightZ showcased what appear to be Hara-Kiri Fatalities, a feature first seen in Mortal Kombat: Deception back in 2004, where a defeated player performs a self-Fatality.

What makes this discovery particularly compelling is the inclusion of Hara-Kiri animations for recently added DLC characters like Ghostface. This suggests that these animations might be integrated into Mortal Kombat 1 in an upcoming update. "After seeing that they're adding it to the downloaded roster now, I think it's highly possible," InfiniteNightZ commented.
Furthermore, InfiniteNightZ pointed out that these Hara-Kiri animations are referenced as Quitalities within the game's code. Quitalities are quick animations that occur when a player quits a multiplayer match, a feature seen in previous Mortal Kombat titles. "They are listed as Quitalities, there's still hope," InfiniteNightZ added, fueling speculation about their potential inclusion.
Following InfiniteNightZ's discovery, renowned Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer Interloko identified additional Hara-Kiri animations, further supporting the theory:
Thanks @MatthewDim40523 for tag me Here are another 2 missing from the video, so looks like only Omniman and Conan doesn't have one.I didn't try to trigger it in the game because I'm bussy finishing some stuff of the demo of my own game https://t.co/TqBKyauY0G pic.twitter.com/hL4QzLRXwf — Interloko (@interloko) February 16, 2025
While this evidence is exciting for fans, it's important to approach with caution as neither NetherRealm Studios nor Warner Bros. Games have officially announced the addition of Quitalities to Mortal Kombat 1.
Mortal Kombat 1 has recently experienced a surge in interest with the introduction of a secret fight featuring Floyd, the pink ninja, and the community's efforts to uncover his unlock conditions. Additionally, fans have the T-1000 guest character to look forward to, with potential for more DLC on the horizon, though NetherRealm has not yet confirmed any further expansions.
