Completing the main quest "For Whom the Bell Tolls" in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* can be quite the challenge, especially under the pressure of a time limit and unfamiliar territory. Here's a detailed walkthrough to help you navigate through this tense mission and save Hans from his imminent execution.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 For Whom the Bell Tolls Walkthrough
Following the "Wedding Crashers" quest, "For Whom the Bell Tolls" finds Henry imprisoned in Trosky, with Hans facing execution once the bell tolls 12 times. Fortunately, Henry is assigned labor duties around the castle, providing him with a slim chance to devise a rescue plan.
Hauling Sacks
Screenshot by The EscapistYour first task is to haul sacks to a shed, which is a mandatory part of the quest. Grab a sack from the wagon and transport it to the shed adjacent to the fenced area. Once you've dropped off the sack, repeat the process until the objective is fulfilled.
Help the Blacksmith

Head to the forge area, which you can access through the archway opposite the blacksmith. Gather the necessary materials and create the horseshoe, then return it to the blacksmith. After he approves it, follow the path you used for hauling sacks to the stables and deliver the horseshoe.
Help Fanka the Cook
Screenshot by The EscapistAfter delivering the horseshoe, it's time to aid Hans. Return to the forge and pick up a lockpick from the red pot on the shelves. Approach Fanka, the cook standing nearby, and offer your help. This will grant you access to the noble's kitchen. Follow Fanka to the kitchen; while you don't need to lockpick it for her, doing so will boost your reputation and secure future food access, which could be advantageous for the upcoming challenges.
Speak with the Chamberlain
Screenshot by The EscapistUpon entering the kitchen, you'll notice the chamberlain in distress. Engage with him and attempt to persuade him to let you prepare a Digestive Potion. If successful, he'll allow you into the surgeon's workshop. If not, you'll need to sneak in.
Make Fever Tonicum
Screenshot by The EscapistWithout the chamberlain's approval, you'll need to use food from the kitchen to distract the guard and sneak into the workshop. If granted access, head to the kitchen used by non-nobles, located across from the forge, and proceed upstairs. You'll encounter a guard; distract him with food to slip by unnoticed. Ascend the stairs to reach a hallway with two doors; enter the right door to access the surgeon's workshop. Use the ingredients in the chest to craft your Fever Tonicum and, if you convinced the chamberlain, a Digestive Potion as well.
Cure Thomas
Screenshot by The EscapistIf aiding the chamberlain, return with the Digestive Potion to gain entry to Thomas's room. Otherwise, you'll need to take an alternative route. Navigate back to the noble's kitchen and ascend the stairs, staying crouched to evade guards. When you encounter a guard at the base of a staircase leading to Thomas's room, throw a pebble to divert his attention, then sneak past him. Continue upstairs until you reach Thomas's room, where his sister Adele is attending to him. Hand over the Fever Tonicum to Adele, triggering the cutscene that concludes the quest.
By completing "For Whom the Bell Tolls" in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* and curing Thomas before the 12th bell tolls, you'll earn additional reputation. Even if you don't make it in time, the outcome remains the same, ensuring Hans's rescue.
