Genshin Impact Version 5.4 Rumored to Feature Wriothesley Rerun After Over a Year
A recent leak suggests Wriothesley's highly anticipated rerun in Genshin Impact will finally arrive in Version 5.4, over a year after his initial debut. This news comes as a welcome relief to many players, but highlights the ongoing challenge Genshin Impact faces in balancing its extensive character roster with limited rerun opportunities.
With over 90 playable characters and a relatively small number of Event Banner slots, creating a fair rerun schedule proves incredibly difficult. Even assuming one new 5-star character per patch, the demand for yearly reruns far outstrips the available slots. While the Chronicled Banner aimed to address this, its effectiveness remains debated, as evidenced by Shenhe's lengthy wait time before her rerun. Until the introduction of triple banners, extended rerun delays are likely to persist.
Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst introduced in Version 4.1, exemplifies this issue. His absence from Event Banners since November 8, 2023, has left many fans eager for his return. His unique Cryo hypercarry capabilities and strong performance in Burnmelt teams make him a highly sought-after character. The leak, originating from Flying Flame, suggests this wait will end with Version 5.4.
Wriothesley's Potential Appearance in Version 5.4
It's crucial to approach this leak with caution, as Flying Flame's track record regarding Natlan leaks is inconsistent. While their prediction of a new Chronicled Banner in Version 5.3 proved accurate, other leaks have been inaccurate. However, the recent Spiral Abyss buff, which benefits Wriothesley's playstyle, lends some credence to the rumor.
Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If both Mizuki and Wriothesley are indeed featured, the remaining Event Banner slots would likely be filled by either Furina or Venti, as these are the only Archons yet to receive sequential reruns. Version 5.4 is tentatively scheduled for release on February 12, 2025.
