ROME: Total War fans on Android are in for a treat with the massive free Imperium Update released by Feral Interactive. This update introduces a slew of gameplay tweaks, control improvements, and quality-of-life enhancements to the classic strategy game that made its way to Android back in 2018. Players of the standalone expansions Barbarian Invasion and Alexander will also enjoy these updates starting next week.
What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?
The Imperium Update incorporates some of the most acclaimed features from Feral’s newer mobile titles, such as Total War: MEDIEVAL II and EMPIRE. Now, ROME: Total War boasts three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection. These modes enhance your command over units, making battles more precise and strategic. You can now move your army, agents, or fleets effortlessly by simply tapping and holding, eliminating the need to manually drag paths.
Positioning Mode allows for fine-tuning unit placements with a tap-and-hold mechanism. The Group Grid feature simplifies managing unit groups with a collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode enables ranged units to switch to close combat when necessary, adding versatility to your tactics. One of the standout features is the Command Slowdown, which automatically slows the game during complex order issuance, helping you maintain control amidst the chaos of battle. Additionally, for the first time, keyboard and mouse support is available for Android and iPad users, enhancing the gaming experience.
The minimap has been revamped to mirror the intuitive design found in MEDIEVAL II, featuring smoother zooming and navigation. A new reset button allows for a quick return to the default view, ensuring you never lose your bearings during intense gameplay.
The Imperium Update is now available for download on the Google Play Store for all ROME: Total War Android users. Keep an eye out for the upcoming updates for Barbarian Invasion and Alexander next week, and don't miss the chance to enhance your gameplay experience.
