The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, which drew inspiration from the acclaimed Dark and Darker, have officially announced the cessation of support and the impending shutdown of its servers. This decision comes after the game's brief run of less than a year, attributed to dwindling player engagement and a lack of substantial updates to keep the community invested.
While Dungeonborne's page remains visible on Steam, it has vanished from the platform's search results, accessible now only through direct links. Although the developers have not publicly detailed the reasons behind the closure, the critically low player numbers clearly played a pivotal role in this decision. Since the latter part of 2024, the game struggled to maintain more than 200 concurrent players, with recent figures plummeting to a mere 10-15 active users.
The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled for permanent closure on May 28, effectively concluding the game's journey. What began with promise and enthusiasm among fans of the genre will now quietly slip into obscurity, never fully realizing the potential it once showed.
