In the world of Dragon Quest 3 Remake, securing the Yellow Orb can feel like a daunting task. While the process itself is straightforward, finding the right starting point can be tricky. This guide will help you navigate this challenge and detail how to obtain the Yellow Orb in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake.
The Yellow Orb is hidden in a location known as Merchantburg, though it's not labeled as such in the game. Initially, it appears as ??? on the map. The town's name will be determined by the merchant you leave behind to establish it. For instance, naming your merchant Christopher will result in the town being called Christopherburg. You'll need to help develop this village to eventually gain access to the Yellow Orb.
Where to Find Merchantburg ??? In Dragon Quest 3 Remake
After securing the Black Pepper for the King of Portoga and acquiring your Ship, you're ready to set sail for Merchantburg. If you have quest markers enabled, you'll find the Merchantburg marker in the northeast corner of the map. Sail west from the coast to reach the easternmost edge of the eastern continent.
When Should I Visit Merchantburg?
Although you can collect the orbs in any order, establishing Merchantburg early is advisable. The town requires time to grow before you can claim the Yellow Orb. By setting up Merchantburg as soon as possible, you can pursue other orbs while waiting for it to develop, returning periodically to check on its progress.
How to Get the Yellow Orb in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
### How to Establish Merchantburg in Dragon Quest 3 Remake:
Before heading to Merchantburg (???), visit PALS in Aliahan to hire a new Merchant. Travel directly to the town, minimizing combat to protect your new party member.
Upon arriving, enter the lone structure to meet an old man who dreams of founding a new town but needs a Merchant to do so. Offer your Merchant as a candidate, and watch as they leave the party to establish the town, officially naming it.
Returning to Merchantburg:
After setting up the town, proceed to collect the Purple Orb from Orochi's Lair and the Blue Orb from Gaia's Navel. As you complete these tasks, you'll receive notifications prompting you to return to Merchantburg.
The town will undergo five growth stages, with each visit revealing a larger town until a grand club is built. On your fourth visit, mention your Merchant's name to the security guard at the cabaret to avoid a hefty gold fee. You'll also notice your Merchant becoming somewhat arrogant, signaling that the end of their reign is near, and the Yellow Orb is within reach.
How to Get the Yellow Orb:
On your fifth and final visit, arrive at night. You'll find the Merchant missing from their home, now imprisoned in a cell in the house just south of theirs. Speak to the Merchant to learn about the town's uprising and the location of the Yellow Orb. Return to the Merchant's home, and behind the sofa, you'll find a quest marker. Interact with the ground there to uncover the Yellow Orb.
For most players, the Yellow Orb will be one of the last orbs to find, following the Red Orb at the Pirates' Den, the Green Orb in Theddon, and the Silver Orb in the Maw of the Necrogond/Necrogond Shrine.
