Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii: A Blend of Serious Drama and Hilarious Mayhem
RGG Studio promises a unique blend of intense drama and comedic chaos in their upcoming title, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. This latest installment in the popular series pushes the boundaries of reality while delivering a compelling "manly drama," according to the developers.
A Serious Side to Majima's Mayhem
While the Like a Dragon series is renowned for its humor, particularly Majima's comedic antics, director Masayoshi Yokoyama reveals a "more serious" side to Majima in this iteration, especially at the story's outset. Producer Ryosuke Horii emphasizes the core "manly drama," highlighting Majima's passionate pursuit of his goals and the bonds he forges on his wild adventure. He clarifies that while the game includes "crazy parts," the narrative focuses on a "passionate man's" journey.
Horii further explains that Majima possesses a unique quality absent in series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, making him the ideal lead for this adventure. The team aimed for a balance between realism and extravagance, avoiding a mundane experience. Their goal was to create wilder gameplay while maintaining a serious and compelling narrative.
Majima's Maji Festival: A Japanese Celebration
To celebrate the game's launch, RGG Studio is hosting Majima's Maji Festival in six Japanese cities. The tour, which began in Sapporo on December 1st, 2024, concludes in Nagoya (January 18th) and Tokyo (January 25th).
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, starring the iconic "Mad Dog of Shimano," Goro Majima, promises an unforgettable modern-day pirate adventure with thrilling combat, exciting naval battles, a vibrant cast, and a passionate story.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii launches on February 21st for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
