Hill Troll Location in Rune Slayer
The Hill Troll is tucked away in a cave on the side of the mountain in Bahlgar. Reaching this location is straightforward if you start from the elevator in Lakeshire. Head down to Bahlgar, as you would to battle Beastmen. Instead of engaging the Beastmen, stick close to the mountain wall and continue around it. You'll pass two platinum deposits and should look for an entrance on one of the sides of the mountain. This is the Troll's cave. To access it, you'll need to jump into the opening, ideally on a mount. It might seem tricky at first, but once you've done it, returning to the cave will become second nature. Hill Troll – Strategy, Loot, and Quest
Despite its intimidating appearance, the Hill Troll is one of the more manageable mini-bosses in Rune Slayer. You'll likely face it numerous times, so mastering its attack pattern is key.
Don't go it alone when fighting the Hill Troll. Even though its attacks are predictable and can be dodged, teaming up with at least one other player will make the fight much smoother. The Troll's popularity among players means finding a group won't be hard. Plus, it respawns in just 90 seconds after being defeated.
The Troll wields a giant pillar, delivering slow but powerful attacks. You can parry and block most of these, but be wary when it raises the pillar overhead with both hands; this move stuns, so you'll want to run. With sufficient damage, you can stagger the Troll, and if you're a Warrior Class player, a well-timed Counter can almost always stun it.
While the Hill Troll can occasionally drop rare gear, the real prize is Troll Hides and Troll Heads. Troll Hides are crucial for crafting solid endgame equipment—it might not be the top tier, but it's more than enough to prepare you for tougher challenges like the Mother Spider.
The Troll Head serves as a quest item for the repeatable Hodor Quest. Handing it to Hodor, who's conveniently located near the cave, every hour gives you a shot at some potentially overpowered loot. If you're already farming the Hill Troll, it makes sense to take on this quest.
Can You Tame the Hill Troll in Rune Slayer?
No, taming the Hill Troll is not an option in Rune Slayer, even for Beast Tamer Archers. As a mini-boss, it's too large and unwieldy to serve as a pet. Plus, we doubt it could even leave its cave. Stick to taming the trusty Mud Crab if you're a Beast Tamer Archer.
That's the rundown on tackling the Hill Troll. Enjoy the grind, and may the loot be ever in your favor. For more endgame strategies, don't miss our Essential Rune Slayer End Game Tips.
