As you collect these butterflies, you'll uncover disturbing notes revealing the true nature of the Butterfly Collector. Far from a mere game, this group is a sinister organization of women plotting to kidnap children from affluent families to gain power and influence. Your mission is clear: you must stop them by tracking down and eliminating their members.
The Butterfly Collector faction consists of five members, each requiring careful pursuit based on geographical clues scattered throughout the game.
How and Where to Find All Butterfly Collector Members in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Shucho
Shucho's carelessness leads you to her in the Fishermen’s District at the southeastern tip of Osaka. Dressed in green, she can be found at an intersection, frantically searching for a kidnapped child. Dispatch her with Naoe’s blade or Yasuke’s weapons, then locate and rescue the child hiding behind some nearby horses.
Mucho
Next, head northwest across the bridge to the Kojo ruins. Here, Mucho poses as a family jochu, currently struggling with her target on the road just south of the ruins. Use the child’s resistance to your advantage, engage Mucho, and after defeating her, return the child to her mother safely.
Richo
Richo, a young woman who blends in by adopting higher social standing, can be found in the northern end of Osaka, specifically in Noda Village across the water. Follow rumors of a suspicious woman entering a bamboo grove to locate Richo, dressed in pink. Neutralize her threat, either stealthily or in combat, and rescue the child she's holding.
Kacho
After dealing with the previous three targets, you'll confront Kacho, the leader of the Butterfly Collector. Her location, just north of the Nishinomaru Garden west of Osaka Castle, is within a restricted zone. Be cautious as you approach; the presence of many butterflies signals her proximity. Engage her in conversation and prepare for a deadly confrontation. Kacho's demise marks the near end of your quest.
Gamemaker
Finally, return to the Gamemaker, the originator of the butterfly hunt. Her motives are complex; as a former victim, she created the game hoping someone would uncover the truth and prevent others from suffering her fate. You now face a moral dilemma: should she be punished for her involvement or given a chance to start anew? Choosing the latter allows her to adopt a new identity and life.
