Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4: A Console Testing Update from Toby Fox
Undertale creator Toby Fox recently provided an update on the testing phase for Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. Console testing is progressing smoothly, although significant work remains. Fox noted on Bluesky that fewer bugs exist, but extensive testing is still needed, with PS5 testing yet to begin. "Still console testing. There are fewer bugs, but there's a lot to go through. (Haven't even tested PS5 yet)," he stated.
Save Transfer Feature in the Works
A key development is the integration of save transfer functionality. The team is working to allow players to carry over their saves from the Chapters 1 and 2 demo on console versions to the full release of Chapters 3 and 4. This feature, recently made possible by newly acquired technology, is a significant addition. "I hope it works!" Fox expressed.
With beta testing showing positive results, a release date may be approaching. Fox previously confirmed a 2025 release window for Chapters 3 and 4.
A Glimpse into Chapter 5? And the Mystery of Tenna
Fox shared a humorous anecdote about a minigame he's developing. His family and friends interpreted it as "a cry for help because your game is not out," sparking speculation that this minigame might be intended for Chapter 5, given Fox's earlier statement that Chapters 3 and 4 are content-complete. Deltarune is planned as a seven-chapter series.
Further fueling anticipation, Fox mentioned a character named Tenna, previously seen only in the Spamton Sweepstakes campaign in September 2022. A friend's comment, "I miss Tenna," confirms Tenna's inclusion in the upcoming Chapter 3.
Deltarune, the successor to Undertale, retains many of the original game's mechanics while introducing a fresh narrative and characters. Players will continue the adventure with Kris, Susie, and Ralsei on their world-saving quest.
