Despite being your initial boss fight, Yetuga doesn't hold back on difficulty. After mastering the game's combat mechanics, you'll need to utilize them fully to emerge victorious. Encountered at the end of the Mount Heinmach level, Yetuga is a fierce adversary, relentlessly attacking when its territory is threatened. Like other large beasts you've battled, Yetuga employs both long and short-range attacks, including a powerful leaping slam.
Your approach will depend on your preferred playstyle, but mastering dodges and parries is crucial to minimize damage. Yetuga's arsenal includes:
- A two-hit combo starting with a left-handed downward smash followed by a right-handed uppercut.
- A four-hit combo consisting of horizontal swipes using either arm.
- A downward smash with both arms.
- A leaping single-handed smash.
- A jumping grab.
- A charge attack.
As you engage Yetuga, you'll learn its attack patterns, allowing you to strike back during brief windows of opportunity. Parrying, except for the jumping grab, will inflict more Stamina damage on the boss. Use Yetuga's aggressive nature to your advantage by dodging its charge and letting it crash into a wall, which momentarily leaves it vulnerable for free attacks. This strategy also provides a chance to break the ice spikes on its back, weakening its attack strength.

In the second phase, you can parry all of Yetuga's attacks except the grab, conserving your Stamina. Keep the pressure on to force Yetuga into its next transformation. When it roars and powers up, quickly retreat. Yetuga will grab a massive rock to smash you, so time your dodge or parry perfectly to avoid damage. It will also unleash a frost breath attack that creates ice spikes, so either move out of the way or parry at the right moment. Seize opportunities to use Potent Attacks, and when Yetuga is exhausted, execute a Brutal Attack to deal significant damage, hastening its defeat.
Upon defeating Yetuga, you'll earn 4,800 Lacrima, along with Frozen Mountain gear items and the Necklace of Resolve as rewards for your efforts.
