Resident Evil's Mikami and Killer7's Suda51 Hint at Sequel and Remaster
During a recent Grasshopper Direct presentation focused on the upcoming Shadows of the Damned remaster, Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil creator) and Goichi "Suda51" Suda sparked considerable excitement among fans by discussing the possibility of both a sequel and a complete edition of the cult classic Killer7.
Killer7: Beyond or a Complete Edition First?
Mikami openly expressed his desire for a Killer7 sequel, calling the original one of his personal favorites. Suda51, echoing this sentiment, stated that a sequel might be in the cards someday, even playfully suggesting titles like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."
The conversation also touched upon the possibility of a Killer7 Complete Edition. Suda51 expressed interest in expanding upon the original vision, particularly by including substantial cut dialogue for the character Coyote. While Mikami jokingly dismissed this as "lame," the team acknowledged the potential for a richer experience through such additions.
Released in 2005, Killer7 is a unique action-adventure game blending horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top style. The game follows Harman Smith, a man capable of manifesting seven distinct personalities, each with unique abilities. Despite its cult following and a 2018 PC remaster, a sequel has remained elusive until now.
The prospect of either a sequel or a complete edition has generated immense fan interest. While no firm commitments were made, the developers' enthusiasm alone has ignited considerable anticipation for the future of Killer7. The final decision, according to Suda51, will be whether to prioritize "Killer7: Beyond" or the Complete Edition.
