Freedom Wars Remastered immerses players in a dystopian future where they, as Sinners, battle monstrous Abductors to safeguard humanity. Enhancing combat effectiveness is key, and players can achieve this by upgrading their weapons and accessories. Upgrading involves boosting base stats and adding modules for various enhancements.
Players can start upgrading their weapons early in the game, eliminating the need to solely depend on mission rewards or enemy drops. This guide provides detailed insights on upgrading weapons and accessories in Freedom Wars Remastered.
How To Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered
To upgrade your weapons in Freedom Wars Remastered, you need to progress through the main storyline until you achieve Level 002 Code Clearance. At this point, as a CODE 2 Sinner, you'll unlock the Facility Management Function via the Personal Responsibility Portal. The Weapon Development Facility becomes accessible here, allowing you to manage and upgrade all your weapons. Upgrading requires specific resources and Entitlement Points, but you can reduce these costs by enlisting the help of a Citizen. Various Citizens offer different reduction rates based on their Facility Manager Aptitude. While it may seem complex, the system is user-friendly once you get started.
Before you proceed with an upgrade, you'll see a preview of the changes in your weapon's stats. The Weapon Development Facility also lets you add Elements and experiment with Modules and Module Slots. To elevate a weapon to a higher Grade, you'll need to purchase the necessary permit from the Claim Entitlement tab on the Window of Liberty.
Should You Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered?
In the initial stages of the main story, missions don't typically yield high-Grade weapons. Although you can buy weapons and combat items from Zakka in The Warren, these are often limited to Grade Level 1, making upgrades almost a necessity. One of your CODE 3 Exams requires obtaining higher Grade Development Facility Permits, which enables you to upgrade your chosen weapon and retain it. You can donate Low-Grade weapons found during missions to reduce your sentence and earn additional Entitlement Points.
The first upgrade at the Weapon Development Facility unlocks the "In Search of the Strongest Weapon" trophy/achievement, with further achievements linked to the upgrading system, making it attractive for trophy enthusiasts. The significant damage difference between weapons of different Grades motivates players to invest time in enhancing their gear.
Additionally, later in the game, players gain access to the Ability Development Facility within Facility Management, offering even more ways to boost their combat prowess.
