James Gunn and Peter Safran have confirmed that The Brave and the Bold will introduce a new Batman to the DC Universe (DCU), explicitly excluding Robert Pattinson.
During a DC Studios presentation, Safran and Gunn clarified that Pattinson's Batman remains exclusive to Matt Reeves' "The Batman Epic Crime Saga." Gunn stated definitively, "It's certainly not the plan. No." Safran elaborated, emphasizing the necessity of introducing a distinct Batman within the DCU, making it a core objective of The Brave and the Bold.
Earlier speculation regarding Pattinson's potential crossover into the broader DCU stemmed from Reeves' own ambiguous comments earlier this year. However, Reeves has since focused on his own planned "Epic Crime Saga," with Safran and Gunn expressing support for his vision and eagerly anticipating The Batman Part 2. While a script is still in progress, early drafts are reportedly promising.

The Brave and the Bold is currently in active development, with Gunn and Safran actively shaping the script. Director Andy Muschietti's involvement remains uncertain, pending script completion. Further announcements regarding The Brave and the Bold are promised shortly.
The Batman Part 2's delayed release date (October 1, 2027) raises questions about The Brave and the Bold's release window. Safran only confirmed a Batman film for October 2027, offering no further details.
While fans await Gunn's interpretation of Batman in The Brave and the Bold, a brief, intentionally vague cameo in Creature Commandos Episode 6 confirmed Batman's pre-existing presence and established recognition within the DCU, eliminating the need for an origin story. This minimalist depiction, Gunn explained to Rotten Tomatoes TV, was a deliberate choice to maintain mystery.
Gunn's comments also hinted at a future team-up between the DCU Batman and Superman. He expressed his long-standing admiration for the character and his excitement for future projects featuring both Batman and Superman.
