In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, like its predecessors, you'll engage in exhilarating combat across ancient China alongside various warlords, culminating in a crucial decision: choosing your allegiance. This guide explains faction selection in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
Understanding Factions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
The game unfolds across chapters. The first two chapters feature the Wanderer, your character, acting independently. You'll assist Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei, participating in significant events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate, without committing to a specific faction.
Chapter 3 presents the pivotal choice: selecting a faction. Before this point, the game provides opportunities to interact with each faction, allowing you to gauge your preference.
To proceed, you must complete a specific number of missions for each faction: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Upon completion, a mission requiring faction selection unlocks. Only factions with completed missions are selectable. For example, completing Cao Cao's missions first limits your choice to Cao Cao or Liu Bei (Liu Bei being unavailable until his missions are completed). You can complete all missions before making your final decision.
Your choice is permanent; the unchosen faction becomes inaccessible for the remainder of the game. Side quests from their officers are unavailable, and your bond with them cannot increase. This might impact gameplay difficulty. For instance, aligning with Liu Bei, who initially has fewer commanding officers, limits opportunities for skill point acquisition through side quests.
Each faction offers unique missions. To experience all content, create a separate save file before choosing a kingdom and reload it to explore other alliances.
Faction selection in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is thus a strategic decision impacting gameplay and available content. Dynasty Warriors: Origins is available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
