Maintaining Your Guard
Xu Wu's agility makes it a formidable foe. Its dark coloration and shifting form can make tracking its movements difficult. Adding to the challenge, it can vanish into walls, reappearing from the ceiling to ambush you. This behavior is limited to its nest, however, so be extra vigilant in that area.
Harness the Power of Ice
Xu Wu exhibits a significant weakness to Ice attacks. Utilize Ice ammo with ranged weapons, or equip gear that inflicts Ice elemental damage if using melee weapons. Consider the Frost Jewel decoration for enhanced Ice Attack capabilities, and keep Frost Pods handy for supplementary Ice damage.
Evading the Grab
Xu Wu employs a dangerous grab attack. If caught, you'll be temporarily incapacitated. React swiftly within the two-second window to escape using your slinger; Frost Pods prove particularly effective here.
Targeting Weak Points
Xu Wu's mouth, visible primarily during diving attacks, is its most vulnerable point. Landing a powerful blow here can inflict substantial damage and potentially break the mouth, yielding Xu Wu's fang. Alternatively, its head offers a 4-star weakness to blunt and cut damage, and a 3-star weakness to ammo damage.
Exploiting Poison Weakness
Xu Wu possesses a 3-star weakness to Poison. Bows with Poison Coating are ideal for applying this debilitating status effect. While other status effects can be considered, Sleep is relatively ineffective.

Capturing Xu Wu

Once Xu Wu's health drops to 20%, prepare to set a trap—either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. Lure it in using meat or even yourself as bait. Quickly fire a tranquilizer to secure the capture before it escapes the trap. Time is of the essence!
Mastering these strategies will significantly improve your chances of successfully hunting and capturing Xu Wu. Remember to monitor your stamina, as its agility will test your endurance. Good hunting!
