Oni Press expands its successful EC Comics reboot with the vampire-themed series, Blood Type, debuting this summer. Spinning off from Epitaphs From the Abyss, this new series promises a thrilling tale of an immortal vampire.
IGN exclusively reveals the cover art for Blood Type #1:
Blood Type, the first in a planned series of EC Comics spin-offs launching Summer 2025, is written by Corinna Bechko (known for Cruel Universe and Green Lantern: Earth One) and illustrated by Andrea Sorrentino (Gideon Falls, Old Man Logan), with colors by Dave Stewart (Hellboy). The first issue boasts covers by Sorrentino, Miguel Mercado (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Albert Monteys (Universe!), and Naomi Franq (Black Hammer: Barbalien).
Oni Press provides this synopsis:
WHEN YOU'RE A VAMPIRE, EVERYBODY SUCKS . . . SOONER OR LATER! Meet Ada, an immortal vampire whose past catches up with her in an idyllic Caribbean resort. This island paradise, filled with wealthy tourists and superstitious locals, becomes a new hunting ground for Ada. But as she hunts, she finds herself in a deadly game with a different kind of predator—one driven by greed and power. Who will survive this clash, and what will remain?
Bechko describes the series as a "wicked tale" expanding on a character she created, highlighting Ada's unconventional and captivating nature. Sorrentino emphasizes his passion for horror, viewing this collaboration as an honor and a fulfilling challenge.
Blood Type #1 releases June 18, 2025. Oni Press will also reprint the original Blood Type short story in the Free Comic Book Day 2025 special, EC Presents: Blood Type #0. Stay tuned for more updates on the comic book landscape, including previews of Marvel and DC's 2025 releases.
