Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Delivers Classic Modes and Map Updates, Addresses Post-Launch Issues
Following its recent launch, Black Ops 6 is adding two highly-anticipated game modes and a beloved map this week. Treyarch, the developer, announced via Twitter (X) that the popular "Infected" mode will arrive on Thursday, followed by the iconic Nuketown map on Friday, November 1st.
Infected, a staple in the Call of Duty franchise, pits players against AI-controlled zombies. Nuketown, originally featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010), is a fan-favorite multiplayer map set in a 1950s-era nuclear test site. Activision previously confirmed plans for regular post-launch content additions, ensuring a steady stream of updates for Black Ops 6. The game launched with 11 standard multiplayer modes, including variations with disabled Scorestreaks and a Hardcore mode.
Addressing Player Feedback: A Recent Update and More to Come
Black Ops 6's first post-launch update addressed several issues reported by players. Improvements include increased XP and weapon XP rates in key multiplayer modes (Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight). Activision stated that they are actively monitoring XP rates across all modes. The update also resolved several bugs:
- Global: Fixed loadout highlighting, addressed an animation issue with Bailey's Operator model, and corrected the "Mute Licensed Music" setting functionality.
- Maps: Closed exploits allowing players to leave the designated play areas in Babylon, Lowtown, and Red Card. Red Card also received stability improvements. General in-game interaction stability was also addressed.
- Multiplayer: Improved matchmaking to find replacement players faster, prevented private matches from forfeiting with zero players on a team, and fixed a persistent sound issue with the Dreadnought Scorestreak.
Treyarch and Raven Software acknowledged remaining issues, such as player deaths upon loadout selection in Search & Destroy, promising future patches to address these. Despite these post-launch challenges, Black Ops 6 is considered by many to be a strong entry in the Call of Duty franchise, particularly praising its enjoyable campaign.
