Bandai Namco is once again diving into the mobile gaming scene with a new addition to the Digimon franchise, introducing Digimon Alysion. This digital rendition of the Digimon Card Game is set to launch on both Android and iOS platforms as a free-to-play experience, though an exact release date has yet to be announced.
The announcement was made during Digimon Con 2025, held on March 19th. The event was packed with exciting updates, including the continuation of Digimon Liberator with a new arc scheduled for April 2025. Bandai Namco also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime with a special video and unveiled a new project, Digimon Adventure: Beyond. Additionally, they're developing a new RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, for consoles and PC.
If You Play Digimon Card Game, Alysion Isn’t the Same
Digimon Alysion isn't just a digital clone of the physical card game. It introduces innovative 'DigiAly' cards, which are exclusive to this mobile version, alongside the original cards. Bandai Namco is also expanding the universe with new Digimon and characters.
The game's character lineup features an all-girls cast, a unique choice that has sparked some curiosity and skepticism among fans. Many were hoping for a more traditional adaptation of the physical game. It's worth noting that this isn't Bandai Namco's first rodeo in the Digimon mobile gaming arena; their previous two attempts didn't quite hit the mark, raising some concerns about Digimon Alysion's potential success.
Despite the mixed feelings, I'm eagerly anticipating the launch of Digimon Alysion. A closed beta test is on the horizon, though specifics are still under wraps. For the latest updates, be sure to check out their official website or follow their X account.
