Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios unveil a new chapter in the Avatar universe: Avatar: Seven Havens. This exciting announcement coincides with the franchise's 20th anniversary, a celebration spearheaded by original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.
Avatar: Seven Havens, a 26-episode 2D animated series, introduces a fresh Avatar – a young Earthbender who succeeds Korra. The narrative unfolds in a world ravaged by catastrophe, where the Avatar's destiny is tragically twisted. Instead of a savior, she's perceived as a harbinger of destruction, hunted by both human and spirit forces. Forced to confront her mysterious origins alongside her long-lost twin, she must safeguard the Seven Havens before civilization crumbles.
DiMartino and Konietzko shared their enthusiasm, stating, "The creation of the original series never anticipated this continued world expansion decades later. This new Avatarverse iteration is brimming with fantasy, mystery, and an entirely new ensemble of captivating characters."
The series will be structured into two 13-episode seasons, designated Book 1 and Book 2. DiMartino and Konietzko are co-creating the series alongside executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. Casting details remain undisclosed.
This marks Avatar Studios' inaugural mainline television series. They are also producing a feature-length animated film centered on Aang, slated for theatrical release on January 30, 2026, showcasing Aang's adventures in adulthood.
The 20th-anniversary commemoration extends beyond Seven Havens, encompassing new books, comics, concerts, merchandise, and even a Roblox game.
