Atomfall: A New Gameplay Trailer Reveals Post-Apocalyptic England
Rebellion Developments, renowned for the Sniper Elite series, ventures into new territory with Atomfall, a first-person survival game set in a post-nuclear 1960s England. A recently released gameplay trailer offers a compelling glimpse into this alternate reality.
Initially unveiled during Xbox's Summer Game Fest showcase, Atomfall initially flew under the radar amidst major announcements. However, its inclusion in the Xbox Game Pass day-one lineup sparked significant interest. Now, with its March 27th release date fast approaching, a detailed seven-minute gameplay trailer has been unveiled.
The trailer establishes the game's setting: a bleak, nuclear-ravaged England reminiscent of titles like Fallout and STALKER. Players will navigate quarantine zones, desolate villages, and abandoned research bunkers, scavenging resources to survive encounters with hostile robots and cultists, as well as hazardous environments.
Weaponry, while initially appearing basic (a cricket bat, revolver, shotgun, and bolt-action rifle), is showcased as upgradeable, hinting at a broader arsenal to be discovered. Crafting plays a crucial role, allowing players to create healing items and explosives such as Molotov cocktails and sticky bombs. A metal detector aids in locating hidden supplies and crafting materials. Furthermore, the game features a skill tree system, categorized into melee, ranged combat, survival, and conditioning, allowing for character progression and customization.
Atomfall launches March 27th on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass immediately. Rebellion has promised a further in-depth video soon, so fans should stay tuned for more information.
