Atelier Resleriana's End-of-Service Announcement: A Year-Long Journey Concludes
Koei Tecmo has announced the closure of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, effective March 28th, just a year after its global launch. In-app purchases will cease on January 27th. Several in-game events are planned before the final shutdown.
The developers cited an inability to maintain their intended quality standards as the reason for the closure. Despite ongoing efforts to improve the game and introduce new events, they determined that continued operation wasn't feasible. Players can still utilize existing Lodestar Gems, but further purchases are unavailable.
This news may not be entirely unexpected for many players. The highly competitive gacha market presents significant challenges for new titles, and Atelier Resleriana, despite promising concepts, faced hurdles.
Criticism centered on gacha and banner rates, hindering player progression. The alchemy system, a cornerstone of the Atelier series, failed to deliver the expected creative depth. While the gameplay was functional, it lacked the engagement to compete effectively with established rivals.
The possibility of an offline version, frequently requested by players on Twitter and Reddit, seems unlikely. For those who enjoyed Atelier Resleriana's turn-based RPG elements, the remaining months offer a final opportunity to experience the game.
