Ubisoft has unveiled an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a slew of engaging updates and features. This includes the introduction of new game+ mode, additional difficulty settings, new story content, and much more. The company shared these plans in a concise yet informative four-and-a-half-minute video update, detailing the schedule for May and June, ensuring fans stay hooked with regular free updates throughout the year.

The updates kick off in early May with 'The Works of Luis Frois,' the first of several free story expansions. Alongside this, players can expect a Codex update and various quality-of-life enhancements. June will bring even more with the addition of new parkour features and a photo mode update. Ubisoft emphasizes its commitment to listening to community feedback, ensuring that these updates are tailored to meet player expectations.
Community developer Daniel St. Germain highlighted the ongoing importance of player feedback in today’s video, stating, “Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released. Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions – and changes – based on your feedback and requests, with some bug fixes to continue refining the experience across all platforms.”
In June, fans can look forward to another free story drop, along with more challenging difficulty settings, enhanced gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear visibility during cutscenes. These enhancements are just the beginning, as Ubisoft plans to roll out new game+ support, additional story expansions, special collaborations, and more before the year ends.
The highlight of the post-launch roadmap is the first major DLC expansion, 'Claws of Awaji,' set to release later in the year. This expansion promises new content, including the Bo staff weapon and a new region for Naoe and Yasuke to explore, offering a 10-hour adventure. While pricing details remain undisclosed, 'Claws of Awaji' will be free for those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, marking Ubisoft's long-awaited entry into Feudal Japan. Its successful launch has earned it a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far and the title of the best-selling game of last month.
