In *Path of Exile 2*, enhancing your character's power through various methods is a key part of the game's appeal. One such method, anointing, can significantly boost your gameplay, but it's not immediately available. Here's how you can unlock and utilize this powerful feature.
How To Get Distilled Emotions in Path of Exile 2
Anointing becomes accessible later in the game when you acquire Distilled Emotions, which are essential for the process. These can be obtained from Delirium Maps, similar to Blight Oils in the original game. There are ten types of Distilled Emotions: Despair, Disgust, Envy, Fear, Greed, Guilt, Ire, Isolation, Paranoia, and Suffering. Delirium Maps are the primary source, offering a random selection upon completion. Alternatively, you can acquire them through currency exchange or the trade market.
To upgrade your Distilled Emotions, head to the Reforging Bench. By combining three of the same type, you'll receive an upgraded version, giving you more control over your anointing options. For those seeking a challenge, Simulacrum waves offer a chance to drop Distilled Emotions, though this method is less efficient and requires a robust build to tackle successfully.
How To Anoint Items in Path of Exile 2
Anointing can be applied to both amulets and Waystones. While currently in Early Access, future updates might expand these options. To anoint an amulet, select any Distilled Emotion to access the Instilling window. Place the amulet in the central box and three Distilled Emotions in the bottom slots. The specific emotions needed for the desired anointing effect are detailed in the Passive Skill Tree. Simply hover over a Notable Passive Skill and press alt on a keyboard or R3 on a controller to view the requirements.

The skills you choose to anoint will vary with your build, and remember, this effect isn't permanent. You can re-anoint an amulet by repeating the process, allowing you to adapt your skills as your build evolves. The same anointing process applies to Waystones, making them more challenging but also potentially more rewarding in terms of loot. However, note that you cannot anoint corrupted items.
By mastering the art of anointing, you'll be able to enhance your amulets to better suit your current build or take on the challenge of anointing a Waystone to test your strength in *Path of Exile 2*.
*Path of Exile 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
