The Witcher's Next Animated Adventure
A Coastal Conflict on the Continent
Netflix Tudum, the official news source, confirms The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep premieres February 11, 2025. This animated film adapts Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," from Sword of Destiny.
The story unfolds in a coastal village, where a centuries-long conflict between humans and merfolk forces a Continental kingdom to enlist a Witcher's aid. Instead of familiar foes like Basilisks and Cockatrices, Geralt faces a unique challenge – battling merpeople.
Returning to voice Geralt is Doug Cockle. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer, respectively. Christina Wren (Will Trent) joins the cast as the new character, Essi Daven.
Sapkowski acts as a creative consultant, while Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (writers of the live-action series) penned the screenplay. Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs the film.
A Season 1 Interlude
The film's timeline slots neatly between episodes 5 and 6 of The Witcher's first season. Following Geralt and Yennefer's reunion in Rinde after the Djinn incident (episode 5, "Bottled Appetites"), Geralt undertakes a new contract near the coast.
The location is likely situated between Redania and Temeria, possibly Bremervoord City in Temeria, ruled by Duke Agloval, as suggested by "A Little Sacrifice." However, the film's adherence to the source material remains to be seen.
