AMD has announced the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, finally following up on the success of the RX 9070 XT earlier this year. However, Team Red hasn't released much detail about the new mid-range graphics card.
The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT features 32 Compute Units, paired with 16GB of GDDR6 memory, which is a strong specification for a card that's expected to focus on 1080p gaming. With such a compact GPU, it's no surprise that it will consume significantly less power than the RX 9070 XT, with a Total Board Power (TBP) of 150-182W.
However, since this AMD GPU has half the Compute Units and consumes about half the power of the RX 9070 XT, it's reasonable to expect that it will be much less powerful—but potentially more affordable. Unfortunately, AMD hasn't provided any pricing or release date details for the upcoming graphics card.
The Budget Battles Have Begun
While it's frustrating that AMD hasn't disclosed the actual price of the Radeon RX 9060 XT, it likely won't be much more than the Intel Arc B580 or the newly launched RTX 5060. These graphics cards have power limits of 145W and 190W respectively, and both were released for around $250-$300. It's highly probable that AMD is targeting a similar market segment.
This means when the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT launches—whenever that may be—gamers looking for a $300 graphics card will have three options from different manufacturers. However, if this new Radeon card stays within that price range, it could gain an advantage; it would be the only GPU in the segment with 16GB of VRAM, compared to 8GB from Nvidia and 12GB from Intel.
I'll still need to test it in the lab to see how it performs, but if the GPU is as capable as its competitors, the larger memory capacity alone could make it last longer into the future as games become more demanding on video memory. Only time will tell what the RX 9060 XT will ultimately cost, but it may be the budget GPU to watch right now.
