Amazon's eagerly anticipated God of War TV series is set to captivate audiences with not just one, but two confirmed seasons, as announced by the show's new showrunner, Ronald D. Moore. Stepping into the role previously held by Rafe Judkins, and taking over from executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, Moore is steering the ship towards what promises to be an epic adaptation of the iconic video game.
In a candid conversation with Katee Sackhoff, a fellow alum from the acclaimed series Battlestar Galactica, Moore shared insights into his latest endeavor. "Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore revealed. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being a gamer himself, Moore humorously admitted to enjoying classic arcade games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. However, modern gaming controllers proved a bit too challenging for him. "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead," he recounted with a laugh.
Moore's role in the God of War series extends beyond writing; he's also serving as an executive producer and showrunner. With an impressive resume that includes work on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and the critically acclaimed 2000s revival of Battlestar Galactica, Moore brings a wealth of experience to this project.
While some members of the original team have departed, Sony's Cory Barlog remains on board as an executive producer, ensuring a strong connection to the source material. The series will be based on the 2018 installment of God of War, promising a faithful adaptation of Kratos and Atreus's journey.
Amazon's track record with video game adaptations, such as the successful renewals of the Fallout TV show and Secret Level, suggests a bright future for God of War on the streaming platform. Fans of the game can look forward to an immersive and thrilling series that honors the legacy of this beloved franchise.
