Tim Burton's Batman universe continues to expand with the upcoming novel, Batman: Revolution, from author John Jackson Miller and Penguin Random House. This thrilling addition to the Burton-Verse introduces its own version of the iconic villain, The Riddler, and is available for pre-order on Amazon.
Following the success of 2024's Batman: Resurrection (also by Miller), Revolution is set between the events of 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns. Drawing inspiration from Burton's unrealized third Batman film—which was to feature Robin Williams as The Riddler—this novel promises a captivating story.

It’s summer in Gotham, and a celebratory mood hangs in the air. The Joker's lingering chaos has subsided, paving the way for a grand Fourth of July celebration orchestrated by the mayor and retail magnate Max Shreck. Yet, beneath the surface, shadows lurk. Batman remains vigilant against escalating threats from rival gangs and masked criminals. Meanwhile, growing protests erupt against the city's extravagant displays of wealth.
At the heart of this simmering tension is Norman Pinkus, a seemingly unremarkable copy boy at the Gotham Globe and the anonymous creator of the newspaper's wildly popular "Riddle Me This" puzzles. Unbeknownst to all, Norman possesses a brilliant mind, secretly using his intellect to solve crimes through the police tip line, often before Batman even becomes aware of them.
Despite his unacknowledged contributions, Norman feels overlooked and unappreciated as the city's gaze fixates on Batman. His disillusionment fuels a daring plan: with the help of dangerous allies, he exploits the city's simmering unrest to draw the Dark Knight into a perilous game of riddles, aiming to reveal Gotham's true savior. DC Comics has also expanded the Burton-Verse with Batman '89, a sequel to Batman Returns featuring Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face and Marlon Wayans as Robin, followed by Batman '89: Echoes, introducing a Jeff Goldblum-inspired Scarecrow and a Madonna-inspired Harley Quinn. Additionally, two volumes of Superman '78, serving as sequels to the Christopher Reeve Superman films, have been published.
