Hanafuda Koi-Koi is a classic Japanese card game. This guide explains the English rules.
Koi-Koi (こいこい), meaning "come again" in Japanese, is a two-player game using Hanafuda cards. The objective is to create specific card combinations, known as "yaku," faster than your opponent.
Players accumulate cards in a point pile by matching cards in their hand with those on the table, or by drawing from a central pile. Once a yaku is formed, a player can choose to stop and score points, or continue playing ("koi-koi") to potentially earn more points by creating additional yaku. While individual card point values don't directly impact the score, they aid in identifying valuable yaku combinations.
